Job description
Walnut Creek Cattle Company feeds 1,000 head of fat cattle per year. We also have a herd of cows around 50 head that we calve out each year. We chop corn into silage, bale cornstalk bales, and bale grass hay. We need employees to start in the fall (September) to assist with chopping corn into silage, bale the cornstalks bales and bale grass hay. This will be completed from September until December. In October the employees will need to assist with preparing barns and getting ready for the calving season. December-January we bail stock bales, preg check cows, complete maintenance on cattle barn, and prep for calving season. February-March calving season starts, which involves bedding for the calves. April-June starts first round of vaccinations, as well as castration and fixing pasture fences. We send the cows out to pasture at this time, and our hay season begins. Employees will assist with daily chores involving the cows/calves, grind hay, truck incoming feeder calves, sort and truck fat cattle, haul manure, and complete general farm duties as assigned. Employees will need to complete routine repairs and maintenance on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
Special Requirements
Job requires extensive walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, repetitive movements, frequent stooping and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license. Requires 3 months experience.
