Job description

We raise hay and straw and need seasonal employees to assist with these crop duties. The winter months (January-February) are typically slow due to weather conditions and therefore not part of our crop production season. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, load and unload crops or materials manually or using conveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, record agricultural data, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress, maintain and repair irrigation and climate control systems, maintain inventory, ordering materials as required, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, set up and operate irrigation equipment, build agricultural structures, clean equipment or facilities, confer with managers to make operational decisions, evaluate quality of plants or crops, harvest agricultural products, load agricultural or forestry products for shipment, maintain forestry, hunting, or agricultural equipment, maintain inventories of materials, equipment, or products, maintain operational records, operate farming equipment, operate irrigation systems, perform manual agricultural, aquacultural, or horticultural tasks, prepare land for agricultural use, transport animals, crops, or equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion., Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Requires 3 months farm experience.
