Job description

Louisiana Sunken Marsh Fisheries is a seasonal employer needing 45 Temporary Oyster Boat Deck Hand Workers from 10/01/2025 through 06/01/2026. Workers will perform duties aboard large commercial vessels operating in coastal and marshland waters. Responsibilities include deploying dredge nets to collect oysters, lifting dredge nets onto the boat deck, removing oysters, and inspecting, sorting, and measuring them to ensure they meet the legal-size requirement of 3 inches.

Special Requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of three (3) months of related experience. No formal education is required. Workers must be able and willing to work outdoors on oyster boats. Work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday for 7 hours per day (6:00 AM to 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM), and Saturdays for 5 hours (6:00 AM to 11:00 AM or 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM).

Shifts are assigned on a rotating basis depending on operational needs. The job requires individuals to be physically fit and stand for prolonged periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift up to 50 pounds while working on wet and unstable surfaces.

All hired workers will be required to complete Form I-9 to verify their identity and authorization to work in the United States.
