Retail Support Staff

Job description

Support market staff to meet the demand of customers. Return items to proper storage areas and assist in refilling shelves. Lift boxes, pails, and baskets of fruit and product. Recommend, select, and help to locate merchandise. Prepare merchandise for purchase, bake, bag, box, glaze, prepare for sale. Label, arrange, and display merchandise to promote sales. Restock Inventory in market, produce, deli, and bakery including supplies. Clean shelves, counters, tables, utensils, tools, equipment, floors and work spaces. Pick up trash, empty garbage containers and replace trash bags, breakdown empty boxes. Box, Bag, wrap, or package products and purchases. Locate shopping carts and return to proper storage areas.

Bake and Glaze- Workers will use the bake function on a toaster over to warm up pre-prepared pies for customer samples. They will assist to brush pies with icing (glaze) and place in case for sale. The workers will rarely do this and will only assist, if needed.

Cleaning “Utensils, tools and equipment”- Workers are responsible to clean work area including any utensils used to sample fruit, jams, jellies, etc. They will also wipe down equipment like the toaster oven, cider dispenser, buckets, and spoons used to transfer cider or apples, peaches and berries to containers for dispensing to customers.

Box, Bag, Wrap or package products and purchases- Workers must wrap, bag, or box customer purchases depending on the size to assist in their safe transportation from the farm.

Special Requirements

Must be able to push, pull and lift up to 40 lbs. Walk, stand, bend, work with hands and fingers for long periods of time. Perform repetitive work. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Must be able to work in a fast passed environment. Maintain high standards of quality control, hygiene, health and safety and security procedures. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Employer-paid drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers prior to commencing work and post-hire at random, upon suspicion of use, and post-accident. Post-hire employment eligibility (e-Verify) check required of foreign and domestic workers. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
