Job description

As included on the ONET website for 39-9011.00 (Child Care Workers), the Child Care Assistants are to perform a variety of tasks/duties on behalf of the infant/children within their assigned room. Assistants will look after and spend time with infants/children aged 6 weeks - 12 years old. Assistants will help encourage and engage children in age-appropriate activities such as storytelling, singing, games, and guided play; and help children learn basic concepts such as colors, numbers, letters, shapes, and days of the week. Assistants will help children follow daily routines, encourage good behavior and maintain order by supervising children to ensure they are safe at all times. Assistants will help children open and/or serve them the prepacked meals and snacks parents have provided them. Assistants will follow health and safety guidelines, within their respective assigned room, to include proper disposal of meal packaging, paper plates/plastic utensils, and hand washing of sippy cups/baby bottles from child meals at the room’s sink. Workers may handle laundry duties such as washing, drying, folding, and storing fitted sheets from room cots and classroom soft materials such as clothes used for dressing up, plush toys and plush pillows used for sitting.

Special Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must be available to work all staggered 9 hour shifts to ensure children are supervised from drop off through the latest pick-up times. (The center is open M-F from 6:00 AM-5:30 pm). Must be able to lift/carry children of up to 70 lbs. and frequently kneel, bend, squat. Post-hire drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers upon suspicion of use. Post-hire background check required of foreign and domestic workers. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions.
