Job description
As included on the ONET website for 39-9011.00 (Child Care Workers), the center’s Childcare Workers are to perform a variety of tasks/duties on behalf of the children within their assigned room. Workers will look after and spend time with preschool-aged children in a Spanish-speaking environment. Communication to children will be delivered in Spanish through age-appropriate activities such as storytelling, singing, games, and guided play. Workers will help children learn basic concepts such as colors, numbers, letters, shapes, and days of the week. Workers will help children follow daily routines, encourage good behavior, and use Spanish naturally throughout the day by talking, playing, and doing simple activities with the children. Learning will happen through everyday moments like playtime, meals, and story time. Workers will assist in serving prepared meals/snacks provided by the center’s cook. The center’s cook will wash all food prep dishes/equipment. The childcare work will follow health and safety guidelines, within their respective assigned center room, to include proper disposal of paper plates/plastic utensils, and hand washing of sippy cups/baby bottles from child meals at the room’s sink. Workers may handle laundry duties such as washing, drying, folding, and storing fitted sheets from room cots and classroom soft materials such as clothes used for dressing up, plush toys and plush pillows used for sitting.
Special Requirements
Requires twelve months of childcare or related experience. Post-hire background check required of foreign and domestic workers. Must be fluent in Spanish and proficient in English. High school diploma/equivalent required. Must be available to work all shifts (7:00am-4:00pm, 8:00am-5:00pm, or 9:00am-6:00pm). Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions.
