Job description
We area goat ranching operation with approximately 500 goats. Goats will primarily be herded around our 1200 acre property but will be utilized as land management tools on other properties throughout the state. The herder will need to be available 24/7 and live on site with the goats and goat dogs. More than 50% of the work is performed on the range. We use equipment such as tractors and four wheelers for maintenance of goat infrastructure and herding. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: attach/detach implements, be able to handle working in high humidity, clean work areas, construct facilities, load and unload materials and commodities, tend to livestock by feeding, medicating, general care, grading, sorting, working, placing
identification on, or relocating, trap and destroy pests, use hand tools such as such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, loppers, and knives, use hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools, work in extreme temperatures. Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: augers, horseback riding for sorting, caring for livestock, irrigation equipment, tractors, Four wheeler. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce: goats and guard dogs.
Special Requirements
Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
