As stated in the job description, construction laborers will prepare the site for placing of concrete by loading and unloading materials, carrying materials and supplies, using hand and power tools. These tools are essential to completing concrete construction activities safely and efficiently. Tasks involving hand tools include:
● Digging, leveling, and clearing the work area using shovels and spades;
● Setting and aligning wooden or metal concrete forms using air hammers and levels;
● Measuring distances and elevations using measuring tapes and hand levels; and
● Compacting soil or gravel base to create a solid foundation using earth tempers;
Tasks involving power tools include:
● Operating portable cement mixers (electric or gas-powered) to batch small volumes of concrete
on-site; and
● Operating small mechanical hoists (such as electric chain hoists or portable material lifts) to raise and
lower construction materials, tools, and formwork to elevated work areas or lower levels.
Place Concrete:
The task of placing concrete refers to the manual labor involved in the movement, positioning, and support of concrete as it is delivered to and distributed on active construction sites. Construction laborers assist in concrete placement under the direction of supervisors or skilled tradespeople, and they are responsible for the groundwork and material handling required to ensure that concrete is delivered safely and effectively into the designated forms or prepared areas. They will however not smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete.

Perform tasks involving manual labor at concrete construction site. Prepare the site for placing of concrete by loading and unloading materials, carrying materials and supplies, using hand and power tools, digging and leveling the earth, placing strengthening materials in concrete, and lifting, carrying and setting concrete forms. Place concrete. Clean up waste materials and equipment.
Special Requirements
Some weekend work. Must be able to handle temperature extremes. Must be able to lift and carry 75 lbs. for 50 yards.
