Job description

Workers will perform assign duties as instructed by their supervisor,
Workers will prep the land, pull weeds, raking, sort and grade vegetables, load and unload vegetables, hoeing, clean around the farm, laying irrigation pipes, and digging ditches.
PLANTING: All crops. Worker will plant and/or replant as needed. These tasks will include repetitive and physically demanding shovel work. Worker may lift up to 50lbs. Worker may be required to ride a mechanical planter (training will be provided). Worker may be required to hand plant using tools such as a spade or hand trowel.
Harvesting of vegetables: Once at the picking location, doing a row at a time, workers will move down the rows plucking the vegetables from the plants and putting them in a container. Once the container is full the worker will take the container to the truck and dump the content. The worker will go back to his picking area and fill his container up again, repeating the process through the work day. Workers will also load the crops onto a small trailer.
Vegetable Packing: Trucks will take the harvested vegetables to the packing house which is located inside the farm, workers will pick out the vegetables that will be used for seed the rest of the vegetables will be separated by size, labeled and packed.
Note: The packing house is located inside the Farm and more than 50% of the product processed is produced by the Fixed Site Employer.
Greenhouse Farm Labor:
Seed Sowing: Using a single cell tray, workers will fill holes with the soil medium distributing it evenly and not over packing it. Workers will then sow in the seeds into each individual single cell, after all seeds have been put in, worker will gently push into the seed pushing it ½ inch down into the soil and will then add a layer of soil to cover up. Tray will then be moved to its growing area. Worker must be able to repeat the process throughout the day.
Transplanting: Once the seedling produces their first set of leaves, they will be transplanted into individual pots. Worker will push the seedling cart down the assigned row, worker will carefully remove seedling from the single cell tray. Walking down the rows, the worker will put one plant per container, repeating the process throughout the work day.
Greenhouse Maintenance: workers will check on greenhouse equipment such as, fans/ventilation, heaters, heat mats, propagation trays, cords, thermostats and irrigation systems ensuring they are properly functioning. Workers will also be pruning and trimming trees, weeding, sanitizing equipment, irrigation installing and repair.
General Maintenance: Workers on physical work restrictions or when harvesting work is not available may be required to perform miscellaneous clean-up work on work site property, on structures utilized in the work site operation, and on housing for harvesting workers. Such clean-up activities include the sprouting, pruning, and painting of trees; debris, weeding, and vine removal; irrigation repair; housing and structure cleaning and repair, will lay and take out plastic, tie, stake and prune plants, clean micro jets and remove plastic drip lines.
Repackers: Grade, sort or classify harvested vegetables on an assembly line according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, smell and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Make and close containers/boxes and record grade and/or identification numbers. Measure, weigh, count and check harvested products and materials. Stack boxes/containers onto pallet. Clean, load and unload harvested products.

Special Requirements

This type of work, involves working conditions that require tremendous stamina, a high level of physical activity in cold or extremely hot conditions in direct sunlight and in adverse weather such as rain. The work requires a high level of physical conditioning.
