Job description
Workers will manually rake, gather, clean, and bale longleaf pine straw from forested areas using hand tools such as pine straw rakes and pitchforks. The baled pine straw will then be loaded by hand onto trailers for transport. Duties include removing debris (pinecones, sticks, and other unwanted materials) from the straw during the baling process to ensure a clean product. Workers will also maintain counts of daily bale output for tallying purposes. The work requires extensive walking across uneven, wooded terrain and performing repetitive physical tasks such as lifting, bending, balancing, and stooping.
Work will be performed outdoors in pine plantations or managed forest stands where longleaf pine straw is cultivated and harvested for landscaping use. Employees will use manual baling equipment, trailers, and hand tools (rakes, pitchforks, and tarps) to complete the job. The employee will work in the forestry and landscaping supply industry, specifically in the collection and preparation of pine straw as a commercial mulch product. No machinery is used in the baling process.

Optional housing is available for $60$70 per week, paid directly by
the worker to the housing provider
