Job description
Workers will provide critical support to a beef cattle operation during the winter season. Key responsibilities include feeding cattle that are confined in the feedlot, transporting and distributing hay or other feed, and maintaining feeding equipment. Workers will assist in monitoring the health of livestock, treating sick animals as directed, and helping with routine tasks like fence repair and pasture maintenance. Additional duties include assisting with planting and preparation of winter grazing fields, performing cleaning and upkeep tasks in livestock areas, and conducting routine inspections to ensure the well-being of animals. Employees must be able to work in winter conditions including cold, snow, and ice, and be physically capable of lifting, bending, and working long hours outdoors. Some equipment operation is required, including tractors and farm trucks. Preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment
may also be necessary.
Termination Clause:
Employment is at-will. However, the employer generally uses an escalatory disciplinary process before termination:
1. Written Warning,
2. Final Warning,
3. Termination Notice.
This structure supports transparency and corrective opportunities while preserving the employer’s legal right to terminate employment at any time in compliance with labor laws.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain.
