The job duty “safely remove and replace concrete and asphalt as needed” involves the following specific tasks:
• Site preparation: Set up safety barricades and signage around work areas to protect the public and crew.
• Concrete and asphalt removal: Use jackhammers, chipping hammers, sledgehammers, and concrete saws to break and cut concrete or asphalt surfaces.
• Excavation: Manually dig access pits using shovels, digging bars, and picks to reach underground sewer or water pipes, typically 2 to 6 feet deep.
• Debris removal: Load and transport broken concrete or asphalt using wheelbarrows or manual carts.
• Pipe access and restoration: After sewer or water repairs are completed by the team, refill excavated areas and compact the soil using hand tampers or plate compactors.
• Surface restoration: Mix and pour ready-mix concrete or cold patch asphalt; finish surfaces using floats, trowels, screeds, and asphalt tampers to ensure safe, level restoration.
• All tasks will be performed while using proper PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, hard hats, safety goggles, and hearing protection, in compliance with OSHA and company safety procedures.

These duties are typically performed outdoors, in residential, commercial, or municipal settings. The work often involves confined spaces, variable weather conditions, and physically demanding tasks.

Nu Flow Phoenix is seeking a hardworking, dependable Excavation Technician to join our dig crew. This role involves physically demanding work in a variety of environments, including residential and commercial job sites. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using hand and power tools, breaking through hard surfaces, and working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform manual excavation of access holes in soil, landscape, asphalt, and concrete
• Operate tools such as shovels, picks, jackhammers, and saws
• Safely remove and replace concrete and asphalt as needed
• Assist in job site preparation, cleanup, and restoration
• Work in tight spaces and inside buildings or homes when required
• Follow safety protocols and company procedures at all times
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors

Special Requirements

Must be able to pass a drug test. Also, must be able to use the tools provided to perform the tasks required. Tools include shovels, picks, jackhammers, and levels.
