Job description
Responsible for handcrafting high-quality leather boots through traditional shoe making techniques. Cutting leather and other materials to precise specifications using hand tools, dies, and cutting machines. Use industrial sewing machines to assemble uppers, including decorative stitching and reinforcement. Stretch and shape leather over a last (mold) using manual and mechanical techniques. Secure midsoles and outsoles using cement construction, stitching, and/or Goodyear welt construction. Hand-finish boots by trimming, sanding, polishing, and applying final touches. Ensure proper fit and structural integrity based on custom orders. Clean and maintain boot making machinery and hand tools. Keep track of leather, hardware, and other supplies to maintain production flow
Special Requirements
At least one year of experience in shoe making, boot making, leatherwork, or a related craft.
