Ranch Worker

Job description

Ranch work. On horseback & on foot, incl. but not limited to herding ,calving, breeding, castrating, branding, tagging, vaccinating, feeding. Loading & unloading feed & hay. Controlling predators & checking & maintaining livestock. Cut & clear brush with hand tools & machinery. Horse care incl. but not limited to stall cleaning, feeding, shoeing, training, foaling. Clean & repair tack. Heavy workload during seasonal calving, breeding, foaling, working cattle, & during drought or other excessive weather conditions. OPEN RANGE. Lifting req. of 50#

Electronic Communication: Cell phone service is very good throughout our ranch and workers will be contacted at least once/day (mid-day) to verify well-being. Workers will also be checked on/accounted for when they return to housing at night.

Special Requirements

Must be able to ride, handle, & care for horses & cattle from horseback in a manner to ensure safety of worker, co-workers, & livestock. Must have basic working ability with fence tools & other ranch implements. Must be reliable to perform assigned tasks capably & efficiently without close supervision. Absences and/or failure to perform required duties not tolerated. Must be willing & able to live in small groups in isolated areas. Work involves ranch animals, vehicles, machinery, outdoors in all types of weather (hot, cold, wet, etc.) and risk of poisonous snakes, predators, rocky terrain, storms, flash floods, brush fires. NO family or animals with regard to housing. 3 months experience (references) required. Must be willing & able to lift 50#.
