Job description

Tend to cattle, perform regular scheduled maint. & simple repairs on related equip, vehicles & ATV/UTVs. Facility maint. (build/repair fences, barns, sheds, water troughs, tanks/ponds, working pens, traps) Operate & repair general farm equip (augers, post hole drivers, chainsaws) Operate cube wagon, keep bulk feeders/creep feeders filled. Hand feed weaned calves daily. Herd cattle as scheduled, make herd health evaluations. Provide vaccinations & other medications as needed. Perform animal husbandry tasks (birth calves, euthanize downed animals, cosmetic dehorning, group cattle according to age & expected calving dates) Conduct regular pasture/brush management (Remove weeds & brush, fertilize native grasses, plant seasonal forage, trim trees, plant food plots) Perform Landscaping/lawn care tasks (mow entrances, irrigation repair/maint., plant & care for ornamental trees, shrubs & plants) Perform wildlife management (fill feeders, provide counts for wildlife biologists, trap feral hogs & protect cows/calves from predators) Drive trucks and trailers to haul equip., cattle, feed & other supplies. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping Involves lifting and carrying of 75 lbs frequently
The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.

Special Requirements

May be required to take post hire random drug and/or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination. May be required to submit a post hire employer paid criminal background check. Failure to comply or felony convictions that the employer reasonably believes will impair safety of others on the worksite will result in immediate termination.
