Job description
Primary duties included, but are not limited to:
-Operate forklift loading horseradish trucks with palletized horseradish.
-Weigh trucks at scales, maintaining paperwork and inventory of product loaded.
-Operate hay squeeze loading hay trucks with alfalfa bales.
-Weigh trucks at scales, maintaining paperwork and inventory of product loaded.
-Operate front end loader for snow removal.
-Operate road grader for winter road maintenance.
-Perform off season basic maintenance on farm equipment.
-Perform inspections on buildings during inclement weather.
-Repair implements in preparation for next season.
-Service and store tool and supplies.
-Vehicle basic maintenance.
-Equip vehicles with tools for upcoming season.
-Keep maintenance records for vehicles, trucks, and trailers.
-Inventory needed tools/supplies for upcoming season.
Equipment used:
Forklift - loading horseradish trucks with product.
Hay squeeze - loading hay trucks with product.
Front end loader - snow removal.
Pickup trucks.
Semi-trucks.
Agricultural product:
Alfalfa bales – in storage only
Frozen palletized horseradish – in storage only
Employer assures that transportation-related time after workers clock-in will be compensated, including actual driving time, processing paperwork, trips to the gas station and cleaning the vehicle. Employees must have a basic driver’s license in order to drive company vehicles.
Special Requirements
Must have 3 months of work experience with alfalfa bales and frozen palletized horseradish, working with both in storage. Must be able to operate front end loader for snow removal and road grader for winter road maintenance. Need to be able to become a certified weight master after hiring process. The employer will cover the costs to become a certified weight master, if necessary.
The employer will cover the costs of obtaining a drivers license, if necessary. The employer provides the required transportation as provided in the H-2A regulations. Workers are not compensated for driving time to and from work since they do not drive anyone other than themselves. Gas and cleaning supplies are provided free of charge at the shop on the farm. Workers are compensated for cleaning vehicles, if needed, after they clock in.
