Job description

Break ice in water troughs so cattle can drink, operate tank heaters; provide bedding for cattle to lay on, replace bedding as necessary to avoid contamination and disease, protect cattle from winter elements such as sleet, snow, ice, freezing temperatures; administering medication, processing, feeding, vaccinating livestock to strengthen immune system during extreme weather and calving; monitor cows multiple times daily during calving for injury and sickness; record number and weight of calves; prepare wheat pasture with temporary hot wire, portable corrals, feeding, and watering facilities; put cattle on wheat for grazing, move cattle from field to field to take full advantage of forage; provide mineral to reduce risk of bloat, provide feed to supplement diet during extremely cold weather; monitor animal health daily; break ice in watering facilities; monitor calf health multiple times daily; pull cattle off wheat at forage depletion, move to grass; load cattle out and sell big cattle at grass dormancy; remove temporary hot wire and corrals.

Special Requirements

Be able to work in extreme conditions such as heat, humidity, wind, cold. Lift and carry supplies. Follow instructions. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. . Lift up to 50 lbs.
