Job description

McGehee Farms has cattle that need to be cared for from December to the end of March.Cattle are confined for winter calving and need attentive care during the confinement period. Watering cattle include checking water tanks in pastures, pens, and barns, as well as hauling water as needed for ample water supply available via pickup truck. Feeding confined cattle hay and feed daily as they are in dry lot, barn, or pens. Monitoring cattle health includes check the health of cows and doctoring sick/unhealthy cows as needed. This includes hauling them to the veterinarian as needed. Assist in delivery of calves to include moving mama cows to calving areas, pulling calves as needed and monitoring the health of both the calf and mama cow. Prepare cattle for pasture grazing by branding, vaccinating, dehorning, and castration. General farm duties to include maintaining shelters, barns, fences, feed troughs and gates. Maintain watering systems. Prepare pastures for grazing upon release of cattle to pasture after winter season and labor-intensive calving season is over. Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.

Special Requirements

Job requires extensive sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, frequent stooping, repetitive movements, and exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Job requires a regular drivers license and 3 months experience.
