Job description

By using grading hand tools such as sod cutters, aerifiers, shovels, rakes, lawn rollers, and grading tools, the worker assists with manual labor on construction projects, such as removing or installing sod, performing aerification on all turf surfaces, repairing bunker liner, installing drainage, and planting and maintaining native grasses. By using brooms, shovels, rakes, and utility cutters, the worker will be responsible for cleaning the shop, restrooms, and lunchroom to ensure a clean and safe environment, this task includes maintaining the maintenance facility, disposing of trash, and caring for their shared spaces.

This job involves a diverse range of activities related to golf course maintenance. The worker will perform semi-skilled ground construction and maintenance work, including operating powered mowing equipment to maintain putting greens, aprons, bunker raking, and tees. Responsibilities include filling divots with sand on tees and the driving range, edging bunkers and cart paths, and assisting with manual labor on construction projects. Additionally, the role requires operating equipment such as flymowers and string trimmers, helping with weed control in citrus groves and lake cattails, and performing general landscaping tasks such as trimming trees and bushes, and hauling debris. The position also involves cleaning the shop, restrooms, and lunchroom to ensure a clean and safe environment.

Special Requirements

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The worker will be required to attend golf cart training within 30 days of hire, through classes offered by the La Costa Security Department. Basic English reading and writing are required. Overtime will be available for workers in May due to the NCAA tournament. The worker must have a basic knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials used in golf course maintenance. The worker should possess basic knowledge of safely operating trucks, utility vehicles, and motorized equipment.
