Job description
Load agricultural products into trucks and drive trucks to market, public elevator or storage facilities. Load or unload trucks or vans or help
others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary. Secure cargo for transport, using
ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure
that they are in proper operating condition. Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Drive trucks
with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products, livestock, or other materials.
Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations. Drive vehicles with capacities
under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations for the purpose of loading or unloading of product. Use and maintain
the tools or equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as weighing or measuring devices. Report any mechanical problems encountered
with vehicles. Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are
in proper working condition. Perform emergency repairs if needed, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark
plugs. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, hand tools,
pneumatic tampers, or rakes to aid in field drainage in preparation for summer planting. Clean work areas, and maintain grounds and
landscaping. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper
operating condition. Raise trucks, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists. Perform scheduled maintenance such as
changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery. Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical
equipment and machinery, such as pumps and compressors. Overhaul or dismantle farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters
as needed. Record details of repairs made and parts used. Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and
making adjustments, as necessary. Clean and lubricate parts. Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with
customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, welding equipment, grinders, or saws.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of
operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and the use of expensive tools and equipment. Failure to
pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically
demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety
regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles. Exceptional performance may be rewarded with additional
