Job description

Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation, and making adjustments, as necessary. Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, and irrigation systems. Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions.Record details of repairs made and parts used. Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools. Clean and lubricate parts. Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws.Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. Tune or overhaul engines. Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, welders, and other machine tools. Repair bent or torn sheet metal. Calculate bills according to the record of repairs made, labor time, and parts used. Install and repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems. Drive trucks or farm vehicles to the local store for tools, supplies, or needed materials for repair, testing, operation, and making adjustments, as necessary.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required.
