Job description
The employer’s period of need is December 15 through February 15, during which the operation is limited exclusively to seasonal livestock activities. During this period, only the following duties are performed: Feed and water livestock and monitor feed and water levels. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trailers, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect signs of illness, injury, disease, or to assess physical characteristics such as rate of weight gain. Segregate animals by weight, age, color, or physical condition. Maintain livestock-related equipment, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment or livestock between locations on the farm. Mix feed, additives, and medications in prescribed ratios. Remove snow, as necessary, to access and operate feed wagons. Remove ice that forms in livestock water sources.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
