Job description
This is a temporary, seasonal position supporting greenhouse and outdoor crop production. Workers will assist in a variety of agricultural tasks directly tied to the seasonal cycle of planting, growing, and harvesting. Responsibilities include handling and cultivating plants by transplanting, spacing, arranging, and performing flower removal, sampling, and sticking of cuttings. Workers will also assist with harvesting and preparing plant material for shipment. Packaging duties include selecting, labeling, and boxing plants, folding and stacking boxes, applying stickers, shrink-wrapping pallets, and loading materials using pallet jacks.
Greenhouse and field maintenance tasks include cleaning and sanitizing work areas, tools, and equipment, as well as performing seasonal repairs to greenhouse structures such as replacing panels, sealing holes, and installing or repairing shade cloths and insect screening to protect crops. Outdoor agricultural duties involve preparing grounds for planting, setting up irrigation systems, and participating in planting and crop maintenance. Workers may also assist with installing temporary structures to support pest control and regulatory compliance, and perform minor upkeep such as painting.
Under supervision, workers will follow instructions for assigned tasks and may be responsible for basic record keeping related to crop handling and task completion.
Special Requirements
Workers must be able to work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions including high heat environments. Workers must have the ability to occasionally work at heights up to 25 feet. Workers must have understanding of basic hand and shop tools. Workers must be able to exercise safe use of ladders. This position requires the ability to perform physical labor in both greenhouse and outdoor environments and willingness to work in varying weather conditions. No prior experience required, as training will be provided.
