Job description
Performing work independently or with minimal instruction in the production, planting, and maintenance of vineyards, which involves picking grapes, preparing the soil, erecting trellis and irrigation equipment, planting, pruning and training vines. Extensive walking required in the cultivation of rows of crops. Fruit thinning, leafing, suckering, hoeing, leaf pruning, installing wire mesh & trellis, harvesting, tractor driving, clean-up and other related viticulture operations. Workers must be able to lift 65 lbs. frequently. No smoking or illegal weapons or controlled substances in the vineyards or in housing unit (if offered). Cannot be color blind due to the need to distinguish colors of crops. Able to stoop, bend, and work for extended periods in hot, cold and wet conditions. Able to use tools such as pruning shears, grape knives, hand saws, weed eaters, hedgers, shovels.
Special Requirements
3 month experience picking, cultivating, weeding, planting and pruning grape vines. Ability to drive tractor, forklift. Drivers license enabling employee to drive company vehicle.. Employee will not be driving commercially.
