Job description
AEWR; US Workers: MS: $9.74; H2A Workers: MS: $8.59.
Various bee yard locations within the area of intended employment. The locations vary based on weather and plant condition such that an address is not available. All locations of work are controlled/operated by the employer; Attend to live bees to produce honey and maintain colony health through feed/supplements; Medicate bees; Find and cage queens, install queen cells; Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, boxes, yards, and fences; Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment such as bee boxes, lids, and pallets; Assemble bee hives, inserts honeycomb of bees into hives; Force bees from hives; Drive equipment between extracting and field; Put on and take off supers; Uncap harvested honeycombs and extract honey from honeycombs; Move equipment or livestock from one location to another manually or using trucks; Sort/clean boxes and comb, remove dead colonies & other related duties; Make colony divisions; Graft queen cells; Treat colonies for disease and parasites; Graft larvae for raising queen bees, Set up and maintain queen-cell starter and finisher colonies; Load/unload trucks; Grade hives; Check for disease and overall health; Work outdoors, exposed to weather, hot or cold; No cell phone use during work hours; Drive farm vehicle to obtain supplies, honey extracting equipment, and misc. tools used to work with honey bees; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping.
Special Requirements
Six (6) months recent and verifiable experience with references required as a beekeeper. May not have bee, pollen or honey-related allergies. Must be able to obtain a drivers following hire and obtain clean driving record. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
