Job description

AEWR US Workers: NE: $18.97 ; H2A Workers: NE: $17.73 .
Worker will be performing duties related to SOC 49-3041-Farm Equipment Mechanics and Service Technicians. All work must be performed during winter months where crop acres are dormant due to cold weather and short daylight hours: Job duties include: rebuild and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles, such as tractors, harvesters, tillage tools, planters/seeders, hay equipment, pickups, semi’s etc. Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments, as necessary. Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports to locate and diagnose malfunctions. Record details of repairs made and parts used. Dismantle defective machines for repair, using hand tools. Clean and lubricate parts. Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders, or saws. Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools. Tune or overhaul engines. Fabricate new metal parts, using drill presses, engine lathes, and other machine tools. Repair bent or torn sheet metal. Remove openers from planters/seeders and rebuild as necessary replacing bearings, blades and worn parts. Rebuild seed meters and calibrate. Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, hoses and other parts. Remove gangs from tillage equipment and rebuild with new bearings and wear parts. Disassemble and rebuild wheel motors, pumps. Once repaired winterize to prevent damage from winter weather. Operate power washer to remove dirt and oil before and after rebuilding equipment. Keep water systems from freezing during freezing/winter conditions. Remove snow and ice. Operate and monitor grain conditioning equipment to ensure efficient and safe conditioning of grain to meet quality standards. Load hoppers to feed machines with products, using forklifts, suction gates, shovels, pitchforks and other equipment. Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information; monitor and report grain moisture and grades. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including cleaning conditioning equipment, storage areas, and surrounding facilities. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and the team. Must speak and understand English.

Special Requirements

One (1) month of recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
