Job description
Job duties include the operation of various farm equipment to plowing land, plant, spray, harvest, and transport crops to the storage area. Employees will also maintain and operate farm equipment; spray weeds; load sprayer; seed crops; load seeder and trucks; loading and unloading trucks into storage bins; preparing ground for next farm season; operate and maintain irrigation pivot, pumps, and wheel line; handle livestock; maintain and repair fences; corral cattle and vaccinate seasonally; feed, water, and brand cattle; calving; and moving and shipping cattle when necessary. Equipment that employees will operate includes tandem truck, semi truck, combine, grain auger, tracked tractor, pull type sprayer, grain seeder, plow, post pounder, loader tractor, bale processor, baler, hay rake, bale wrapper, and bale loader. Duties also include manual labor such as maintaining and repairing fences, maintaining wheel line irrigation, cleaning grain bins and trucks, working cattle in corrals, changing tires when needed, and repairing machinery. Employees must have 2 months of experience; and basic English literacy, reading, and math skills. Increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience and merit. Workers will not operate any vehicle over the 26,001 lb GVW weight limit.
Special Requirements
Employer provided items (at no cost to the worker): All tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties assigned as well as transportation between worker(s) on-site housing and the work site. A cell phone or two-way radio will be provided for emergency and ranch communications at no
cost to the worker (excluding long distance charges).
The expected work schedule may be required in a split shift due to the nature of the job duties. Hours may vary due to weather, time of year and the requirements of the job. Work may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but only required to work the hours specified. Work may be offered 7 days a week but only required 6 days a week.
