Job description

This role maintains healthy, productive colonies for honey and pollination in the Southeast, including preparing beehives for California almond pollination and managing the gallberry honey flow in Florida. The worker assesses colonies, provides feed and treatments, rears and replaces queens, makes divides, and sterilizes or disposes of diseased equipment as needed. They construct, paint, and repair hive equipment; transport, place, and relocate hives. Work occurs outdoors in varied weather with frequent bending and lifting up to 75 lbs; PPE is worn as required, and applicants must have no allergies to bee stings or hive products. Schedules vary with weather and crop conditions, and hourly pay meets or exceeds the applicable state AEWR.

Special Requirements

This position requires a minimum of 3 months of experience in beekeeping, handling both manual and mechanized tasks specific to beekeeping. Saturday work is required. Beekeepers must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., perform repetitive tasks in a warm climate, and have tolerance for working around stinging insects.
