Job description
This position involves working outdoors all day in various weather conditions, including sun, rain, and heat. Primary responsibilities include planting, propagating, watering, and pruning a variety of plants. Workers will prepare soil, dig holes, transplant seedlings, and space plants appropriately to ensure healthy growth. Propagation tasks may involve seeding, rooting cuttings, and dividing plants. Watering duties include operating hoses, irrigation systems, and hand-watering containers or beds as needed to maintain proper moisture levels. The role requires frequent bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods, as well as repetitive motion throughout the day. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks consistently. Additional duties include weeding, mulching, loading and unloading plants, and monitoring plant health for signs of pests or disease. Workers are also responsible for maintaining nursery and greenhouse areas by cleaning, organizing plant materials, and disposing of debris. The role requires operating basic tools and equipment such as shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, pruning shears, and small machinery as needed, as well as assisting with the installation and maintenance of irrigation lines around the growing area. This is a physically intensive role suited for individuals comfortable with outdoor labor and repetitive tasks in all weather conditions. Workers should anticipate working more than 35 hours per week during the harvest season. Work hours and daily assignments may vary depending on weather and crop conditions, and workers may be scheduled to work on any day of the week. The exact schedule and workday assignments will be determined at the employer’s discretion.
