Job description
Workers will assist with seasonal peak operations including planting, irrigation, pest control, and harvesting of row crops on a 3,000-acre grain farm. Duties involve preparing fields, operating irrigation systems, monitoring crop health, and ensuring proper application of pest control methods. During harvest, workers will collect, sort, and transport crops. Job duties may also include loading and unloading supplies, performing minor maintenance on equipment, cleaning work areas, and following safety protocols. Workers will operate agricultural equipment such as tractors and harvesters to complete these tasks, aligning with the duties of Agricultural Equipment Operators under SOC Code 45-2091.Employment under this H-2A petition is at-will, meaning the employer may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or prior notice, in accordance with state and federal labor regulations. However, an escalatory disciplinary process will generally be followed to address worker performance issues or misconduct. This process includes a written warning followed by a termination notice if issues are not resolved. This process does not alter the at-will nature of the employment agreement but is implemented to ensure transparency and fairness in addressing workplace matters. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced Level Pursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
