Job description

Workers will drive and operate various agricultural machinery including tractors, combines, sprayers, augers, and other grain-farming equipment to plant, cultivate, harvest, and store grain crops. Duties include field preparation, tillage, fertilization, pesticide application, irrigation, crop maintenance, harvesting, and grain transport. Workers are responsible for daily equipment inspections, cleaning, fueling, greasing, checking fluids, and performing minor mechanical repairs. Tasks vary by season and weather conditions, requiring adaptability and efficiency. Workers must follow supervisor instructions, observe safety protocols, and maintain consistent productivity during the contract period. Applicants must have at least 12 months of prior experience operating and maintaining large-scale grain farming equipment. They must be capable of identifying equipment issues, making minor repairs, and safely handling machinery in active field conditions. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and work long hours during peak seasons, including weekends and holidays. No formal education is required, but workers must understand and follow verbal and written directions related to equipment use, field operations, and safety practices. Employment is at-will. However, the employer generally uses an escalatory disciplinary process consisting of a written warning followed by a termination notice if issues are not resolved. Grounds for termination include failure to meet job expectations, unsafe conduct, or violation of farm policies. Workers are expected to cooperate with team members, perform duties reliably, and contribute to the overall success of farm operations across the entire contract period. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
