Job description
Drive employer-provided tractor-trailer combination vehicles (over 26,001 lbs GVWR) to transport nursery plants and agricultural products produced by Spring Creek Growers. All routes are within the State of Texas. Drivers operate heavy trucks between nursery locations, distribution centers, and customer markets. All delivery drivers will be able to return to their residence or employer-provided housing within the same work day.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck, trailer, and load to ensure safety and compliance with DOT and Texas DPS rules. Secure and balance loads using proper devices. Maintain driver logs, delivery paperwork, and required records. Operate vehicles safely and lawfully at all times.
Assist with loading and unloading rolling racks of nursery plants. Move racks into position, adjust or tie down, and unload at destination. Return empty racks or materials to the nursery and complete end-of-shift paperwork.
Workers handle racks that may be wet and must lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
Employer provides all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job at no cost. Workers must comply with all safety policies and maintain required documentation.
Special Requirements
Must have one (3) months of verifiable experience operating tractor-trailer combinations. Worker must have/be able to obtain and maintain throughout employment a valid driver's license: Texas Class A CDL or foreign equivalent. Must comply with all applicable requirements of USDOT regulations. Must pass a post-employment road test to gauge driving ability. Employer uniformly conducts a post-employment DOT physical, drug screen, background check and motor vehicle records check at no cost to the worker. Must be able to read, speak, and understand English sufficiently to comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including conversing with the public, understanding traffic signs and signals, responding to official inquiries, and completing required reports and records.
Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. No reckless driving or DUI convictions within the past three (3) years.
