Job description

Record information about crops such as pesticide use, yields, or costs; Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment such as feeders, irrigation and feeding systems, filters, fluids plugs, valves, lines; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery such as ATV, skidsteer, tractor, sprayer, mulcher, shredder, mower, spreader, baler, rake, drill, disc, plow, planter, swather, rake, baler to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops; Plant, irrigate, weed, prune, harvest, and milling of olive trees and olive fruit; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Regulate conditions; Feel plants' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease; Maintain inventory; Trap and destroy pests such as moles, gophers, and mice; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Ensure animals and water supply systems are protected by fashioning and maintaining blocks from the elements; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Attend to live farm animals such as cattle, goats, sheep by castrating, worming tagging, birthing, monitoring; Weigh containers and record weights and identifying information; Spray fence rows for weeds; Fix farm equipment and machinery be welding, torching; Use hand and power tools such as weed eater, chainsaw, pruner, shovel; Load, unload, haul; Work in orchard; Bend and stoop.

Special Requirements

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 65 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
