Job description
Essential Duties for this Agricultural Equipment Operator include:
Conduct thorough and accurate pre-operation inspections on agricultural equipment, including farm trucks.
Safely and correctly drive trucks to haul crops, supplies, tools. Perform duties in accordance with established safety standards and proper vehicle operation techniques.
Attach trailers.
Safely and correctly loading/unloading of hoppers, containers, trailers with potato seed. Use front end loaders or conveyers to load potato seed.
Ensure all equipment is in good condition prior to operation. Report any concerns to a manager.
Operate equipment to ensure potato seed is correctly and evenly distributed in the trailer.
Weigh crop-filled containers at the farm location, record weights and other identifying information as required.
Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions.
Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery.
Follow driving instructions to and from the growing location.
Communicate with field & farm employees in a courteous, professional manner.
Participate in safety trainings, orientations and all other company meetings as required.
Follow supervisor instructions always and arrive to work on time.
Unloading, grading, sizing, cutting, applying seed treatment to potato seed.
Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
Perform general site clean up of spilled potatoes or dirt piles that have collected. Includes using: shovels, hoes, brooms, leaf blowers, pressure washers.
All tools will be provided at no cost.
Required to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time during work shift. Routinely required to stoop, bend, kneel, lift, and reach, in the performance of job function. Requires the essential use of hands, speech, eyesight, and hearing.
Vision requirements include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral and depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus as needed. Must be able to pass random and required drug and alcohol tests. Drug screening is post-offer, post-hire, can be random and is at no cost to the worker.
Special Requirements
2 months experience operating agriculture equipment within the past 2 years. Employees must hold a drivers license (such as standard Class C) that allows them to operate a vehicle in the United States. Driving farm field trucks over 26,000 pounds will be required. a Motor Vehicle Report will be conducted pre-hire for all candidates qualified for the role. The employer will cover expenses related to the MVR.
