Job description
We are a family farm in Western Kansas seeking a seasonal experienced farm operator. The farm comprises 10,000 dryland acres and 1,900 irrigated corn acres. The farm operator’s responsibilities and duties will pertain to milo/corn planting, irrigations of planted crops, harvesting wheat, mowing, spraying weeds, tending sprayers for spring/summer crop/fallow applications, harvesting milo/corn, operating grain leg/conveyor/bin system, general shop maintenance, and break-down repairs of agriculture equipment, trucks, and pivots. Experience with modern farm equipment (especially John Deere), its routine maintenance, and its associated technology (i.e. John Deere Op Center, AgSense, GPS systems, etc.). Employer may, at its sole discretion, provide pay increases based on longevity or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid $19.50/hr if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
Special Requirements
Knowledge of irrigation equipment and practice. The farm operator must have good communication skills, self-motivation, a positive attitude, and dependability. They must be able to keep accurate records and lift a 100lbs. This job requires a regular driver's license and 3 months of farm experience.
