Job description

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of corn, grain, hay, Sugar beets, and potatoes.

Supervisory duties may include the following: supervise, demonstrate, instruct and communicate with lead persons, labor crews and other workers with regards to required job duties; plan personnel, equipment and supply requirements for each farm task; assist in personnel education/safety trainings and job performance evaluations; identify disease and pest control needs; train new employees; review timesheets, and assist director with wage changes; properly notify H/R of terminations or employee issues; attend meetings to discuss/organize schedules, labor and equipment; maintain/repair fencing; drive, load/unload farm trucks and Ag exempt, non-CDL semi/10-wheel trucks on, or between, farm worksites to transport crops to onsite facilities; order parts to maintain/repair equipment and provide employees with necessary supplies to complete their job duties; supervise farm machinery maintenance work; check and determine when soil moisture/temperature is correct/suitable for planting and harvest; calculate crop yields; supervise crop storage to ensure crops do not bruise, rot, freeze, dry out or mold; keep/maintain records.
Supervisor may also perform the following general farm and irrigation duties as well as supervising and assisting operators/irrigators with same:
General Farm Work: maintain, drive, attach, adjust and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize and harvest crops; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery, vehicles and trucks; load planter; report malfunctions; operate wheel loaders, grain sweeps and GPS tracking systems in advance technology tractors; maintain correct planting, harvesting and cultivating adjustments required by constantly changing fields and conditions; may mix and/or spray/apply chemicals/fertilizer (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable); remove undesirable and excess growth from crops or farm grounds; remove rocks from field; paint/repair/maintain farm structures; replace/repair fencing; perform general cleanup of farm areas; drive, load/unload trucks; operate motor bike or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; demonstrate and use hand signals; drive truck to move raw unfinished product from fields to raw storage facilities or from storage facilities to fields for replanting; unload grain onto conveyors and into planting machines, storage bins or elevator; operate grain sweep.

Special Requirements

Applicants must have 2 months experience with supervision, farm, and irrigation work, and provide the contact information of at least one reference who can verify experience and performance. Applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid drivers license as driving on public roads may be required.
