Job description
Perform manual labor to landscape or maintain grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment. Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes. Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Mow and edge/trim lawns, using power mowers and edgers. Shovel snow from walks, driveways, and parking lots, and spread salt in those areas. Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls. Follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers and foliage. Lay sod. Haul or spread topsoil, and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place. Trim and pick flowers, and clean flower beds. Install retaining walls. Rake, mulch, and compost leaves. Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. Workers who have a valid driver's license may drive vehicles to transport workers and may be offered additional hours.
Special Requirements
Requires physical stamina. Work outdoors, in extreme temperatures, and in adverse weather. Must lift and carry 50 lbs. No education or experience required.
