Job description
Crops: Flowers, Bulbs, Trees, Woody Ornamentals
Plant Protection:
- Herbicide Applications
- Spraying chemical application pump backpack sprayer
- Application of insecticide and fungicides, hose rig spray
- Spray Equipment calibration
- Hand crank herbicide application
- Application of granular fertilizer
- Review crops for health issues and report to Plant Health management for treatment decisions
All chemical applications involve only non-restricted use products. Tasks do not require a pesticide applicator license. Workers are trained after hire and work under close daily supervision.
Loading:
- Maintenance of loading racks
- Physical loading of plants to trucks
- Quality assurance of plant material
- Ag Equipment Operator
- Verification of order counts
- Coordination of sales order instructions
- Palletization of plant material
Some workers may be trained after hire to safely operate agricultural equipment. No prior experience required.
Canning:
- Planting of nursery stock
- Set down of nursery stock in assigned locations
- Tractor driving to and from location with planted stock
- Plastic pot organization and stacking
- Spacing of nursery stock as assigned
- Potting of large container nursery stock
Workers will be trained after hire to safely operate tractors as needed.
Maintenance:
- Loading Rack Assembly
- Load divider Assembly
- Greenhouse Maintenance
- Application of growing fabric onto bed
- Application and removal of shades
- Lawn maintenance
Lawn maintenance is limited to farm operational grounds and production areas only.
Inventory Assistance:
- Photograph plants and maintain labeling and staking in the field for lot identification
Special Requirements
Two (2) months experience as a farmworker. On-the-job training is available for certain tasks. Must be able to furnish affirmative job references
from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to
meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work efficiently both independently and within a team. Available and willing to work extra hours during spring or in times of need. Must have manual dexterity. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. All drug testing will occur after the worker begins his
or her employment and is not a part of the interview process. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
