Job description

Workers will operate modern, high-horsepower agricultural equipment including tractors, air drills, cultivators, grain carts, and self-propelled combines. Duties include pre-season equipment preparation, field tillage, seedbed preparation, and planting in spring; in-season fieldwork, crop monitoring, input handling, and equipment maintenance in summer; and grain harvesting using combines and grain carts in fall, followed by post-harvest equipment servicing. Workers must transport grain, water, and supplies within the farm (CDL not required under state farm-use exemption). General farmyard duties include facility maintenance, basic mechanical checks, lubrication, fluid refills, and minor repairs. Work is conducted across multiple field locations and requires following all safety rules and operational procedures. Due to short planting and harvest windows, workers must perform with minimal supervision. All tasks involve time-sensitive, safety-critical responsibilities and operation of high-value machinery. Workers must demonstrate competence in equipment setup, operation, and maintenance from the start of employment. Prior experience on large commercial grain operations is required to meet the performance expectations essential for timely and successful crop production.

Special Requirements

3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced Level Pursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
