Job description
Employees will operate and maintain agricultural equipment used in grain farming operations. Primary duties include preparing, inspecting, and repairing machinery such as tractors, planters, sprayers, and harvesters. Employees must safely and efficiently operate large-scale farm equipment to perform fieldwork such as tilling, planting, spraying, and harvesting. Workers will also be required to drive semi-trucks to haul grain from fields to storage facilities and assist in cleaning and preparing grain bins. Routine preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairs to farm machinery are required. Duties begin in April with machinery preparation and ground readiness. Planting extends through June, and spraying takes place from May through August. Harvesting begins in late summer and typically concludes by early November. Throughout the season, workers may also load and unload supplies, assist with cleaning and organizing the farm shop and yards, and monitor equipment for safe and effective performance. This position requires workers with a Skill Level 2 classification. Workers must have prior experience in operating and maintaining agricultural equipment and semi-truck driving for crop hauling.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
