Job description
Employees will operate large-scale, mechanized agricultural equipment in the production of small grains across approximately 5,500 acres during the peak farming season, which runs from February 28 through November 30. Job duties include soil preparation, seeding, chemical application, swathing, combining, and transporting grain. Tasks are time-sensitive and require familiarity with advanced farming techniques and equipment due to the large volume and tight schedules of field operations. Workers will assist in critical stages of the crop cycle including planting and harvest operations. This role requires skilled operators familiar with large-scale, mechanized equipment, and who can perform assigned tasks efficiently and safely in a fast-paced, seasonal farming environment. This position requires Skill Level II (Experienced). Workers must have previous experience in agricultural equipment operation on grain farms or similar settings, and be able to perform duties without direct supervision once trained on local procedures. This position does not include supervisory responsibilities and is limited to agricultural equipment operation and tasks related to crop production. Workers are not required to engage in duties outside the scope of these responsibilities. Employees may be required to perform routine maintenance on equipment as needed and assist with basic support tasks related to farming operations under the direction of management. All tasks will be performed in accordance with the requirements and assurances of the H-2A visa program. Wage offer for H-2A workers only is $17.71 per hour.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced Level Pursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
