Job description

Perform manual labor to transplant vegetable plants, flowers and herbs within an assembly line. Into packs for resale as well as into the field to be grown to finished product. Work with greenhouse grown tomatoes including twisting, clipping, lowering, pruning, de-leafing, pest scouring, support trussing, middle shoot removal, cleaning, harvesting and maintaining the plants. The following applies to all field crops grown at the nursery (vegetables, flowers, trees, shrubs). Clean work areas, sanitize and maintain grounds and greenhouses. Maintain and repair nursery buildings and greenhouses. Perform nursery sanitation duties including picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms and sweeping floors. Workers will load and unload new nursery plants off of trucks and or carts. (Trees and Shrubs). Workers may operate agricultural machinery/equipment essential to running the nursery. (Bobcats, mowers, weed eaters, tractors with implements, cultivators, ect). Other general agriculture labor duties may be assigned from time to time. Work is very fast-paced during the busy season. Exposure to extreme temp, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling walking and frequent stooping Involves lifting and carrying of 50 lbs frequently
The hours listed represent the normal work schedule. Due to the nature of the duties and weather it is the prevailing practice to work substantially more, less or different hours than those listed, sometimes for extended periods of time. When the number of hours for a week exceeds the number listed then, the worker may be offered, but not required, to work more hours. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on the weekend, a worker’s Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
