Farm Laborer / Agricultural Bus Driver

Job description

Laborer/Driver will conduct simple daily vehicle maintenance checks, pick up workers from employer-provided housing, take them to the worksite, and drive them back to their housing. They will only spend about ten percent of their workday doing these job duties. Other daily duties may include field walking, timekeeping, filling water jugs for the workers when needed and ensuring field sanitation and safety measures are maintained throughout the day. They are required to live in the housing provided by the employer and take workers once a week to the bank and grocery store.

Workers will also perform farming, harvesting and packing activities of fresh fruits and vegetables such as peppers, tomatoes, squash, cucumber and watermelon. Duties may include operating farm equipment such as tractors and field trucks. Duties will include general farm labor such as, but not limited to, loading/unloading, weeding, staking, laying plastic, harvesting, and cleanup. This job will be done under extreme weather conditions such as heat, high humidity, direct sunlight, cold weather, possible rain, wind and exposure to pollen. Repetitive physical conditions such as prolonged walking, standing, heavy bending, stooping, reaching and lifting will be involved on a regular basis.

Special Requirements

Workers must adhere to all safety rules as instructed by supervisors and practice safety in all aspects of work. The employer is a drug-free workplace and has a zero tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol in the workplace and in the employer-provided housing. Background check and random drug testing will be conducted post-hire at employer's expense. Drug testing may be done post-accident and for cases with valid reasons for suspicion.
