Job description
Workers will operate and maintain a variety of agricultural machinery used in the cultivation and harvesting of small grain crops, including wheat, barley, and canola, on a 6,000-acre farm. Primary duties include operating tractors, planters, sprayers, combines, and grain carts to perform field preparation, seeding, fertilizing, pest control, and harvesting. Workers will monitor equipment to ensure optimal functionality and perform routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, replacing parts, and cleaning machinery. They may be required to make basic mechanical repairs as needed to keep operations running during peak seasons. Duties also include loading and unloading crops, transporting harvested grain, and assisting with the setup and breakdown of equipment in the field. Employees must be able to follow safety protocols and instructions from supervisors, handle physically demanding work in varying weather conditions, and manage time effectively to meet seasonal deadlines. Experience with GPS-guided equipment and basic knowledge of grain farming operations is preferred. This work is directly tied to the seasonal demands of planting and harvest periods and will vary depending on weather and crop conditions. Workers may also assist in general farm upkeep related to field operations but will not perform non-agricultural duties or work outside the scope of grain crop production. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 12 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
