Job description

Workers will operate and maintain a variety of agricultural machinery used in the cultivation and harvesting of small grain crops, including wheat, barley, and canola, on a 6,000-acre farm. Primary duties include operating tractors, planters, sprayers, combines, and grain carts to perform field preparation, seeding, fertilizing, pest control, and harvesting. Workers will monitor equipment to ensure optimal functionality and perform routine maintenance, including checking fluid levels, replacing parts, and cleaning machinery. They may be required to make basic mechanical repairs as needed to keep operations running during peak seasons. Duties also include loading and unloading crops, transporting harvested grain, and assisting with the setup and breakdown of equipment in the field. Employees must be able to follow safety protocols and instructions from supervisors, handle physically demanding work in varying weather conditions, and manage time effectively to meet seasonal deadlines. Experience with GPS-guided equipment and basic knowledge of grain farming operations is preferred. This work is directly tied to the seasonal demands of planting and harvest periods and will vary depending on weather and crop conditions. Workers may also assist in general farm upkeep related to field operations but will not perform non-agricultural duties or work outside the scope of grain crop production. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.

Did you know that... H-2A workers do not have a right to get paid for overtime work, or “time and a half?”
