Grain Farm Laborer

Job description

Workers will perform the following duties:

Operate tractors, planters, and other equipment to prepare fields and plant corn, soybeans, and hay.

Assist with field preparation including tillage, disking, dragging, rock picking, and seedbed preparation.

Load and unload seed, fertilizer, and supplies.

Assist with irrigation activities, including setting up, moving, monitoring, and maintaining irrigation pipes, pumps, and pivots.

Apply crop protection products (under supervision of a licensed applicator) and fertilizers as directed.

Cultivate and weed crops using farm equipment and hand tools.

Monitor crop growth and report any issues related to pests, disease, or irrigation.

Maintain farm buildings, fences, and equipment in good working condition.

Perform routine servicing of tractors and farm machinery (check oil, tires, clean, lubricate).

Assist with feeding and caring for livestock (yearling steers), including providing feed and water and maintaining pens and pastures.

Follow all farm safety rules and maintain a clean work environment.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Employer shall Provide Necessary Training to worker. Workers Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers' expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Repetitive movements is required.
