Job description
We are a pheasant hatchery where our season runs from March until December. In March we will increase our egg production from 2,000 breeders to 18,500 breeders. We plan on hatching 800,000 chicks, gathering 1.2 million eggs for the 2026 spring and summer season. Most chicks are shipped out on the day of hatch. We keep 6,000 chicks a week for ourselves to then raise up to starter or fall flyers. Our breeding stock is outside so due to the Wisconsin weather we gather eggs all day in ALL weather conditions. Once eggs are gathered they are washed and stored. Besides gathering eggs and raising the chicks. We fix our own equipment and reconstruct flight pens yearly. Must know how to use hand tools to construct pens along with building new storage buildings and brooder barns. We also do tractor and skid steer work daily. Once the birds are raised to the correct size we deliver them to the customers or to our own flight pens. Complete maintenance and repairs on small engines. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at the previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
