Job description

Agricultural employee is required to perform a variety of tasks on an integrated crop and livestock operation. Employee will work with many different types of farm machinery for soil preparation, crop planting, harvesting and post harvest storage and processing of crops. Worker will be required to drive and control farm equipment to till soil, seed/plant, fertilize, cultivate and harvest small grain and pulse crops. Employee is required to maintain and make minor repairs of the equipment they operate. Mechanical skills and experience are preferred to use equipment necessary to perform the tasks above. The worker is also required to attach farm implements, such as plow, disc, or harvester, to tractor, using mechanic’s hand tools; load and unload grain truck manually or using hand truck, loader, or transfer auger; and clean out grain bins. Loading agricultural products into trucks, and driving trucks to market or storage facilities, as well as limited crop scouting for pests, and maturity may be additional duties. Post harvest activities can include cleaning and packing of grain. Livestock duties include moving animals between temporarily fenced grazing areas and monitoring grazing forage and water availability from spring into fall.
To work as a general farmworker requires physical coordination, decision-making ability, mechanical aptitude and safe driving skills. The ability to listen to and follow verbal/texted directions is imperative. Attention to detail and ability to keep harvest, seeding and livestock records is required. The job entails working outdoors in all types of weather (extreme heat, cold, wind, dust, rain and snow). Worker must crouch, bend, lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds. Worker is required to have a current driver’s license and be able to speak English.

All employees have a paid sick leave plan that accrues 4 hours per two week pay-period.
Bonus payments are based on following safety and communication rules, no tools lost or not put back and completion of the full season. Bonus payments will not be used to meet the required wage. Details will be provided during orientation.

Special Requirements

Employer provided items (at no cost to the worker): All tools and equipment necessary to perform the duties assigned as well as transportation between worker(s) on-site housing and the work site. A cell phone or two-way radio will be provided for emergency and ranch communications at no cost to the worker (excluding long distance charges).
The expected work schedule may be required in a split shift due to the nature of the job duties. Hours may vary due to weather, time of year and the requirements of the job. Work may be offered more than the specified hours per day, but only required to work the hours specified. Work may be offered 7 days a week but only required 6 days a week.
