Job description
Workers will assist in the full range of crop farming activities necessary throughout the spring, summer, and fall seasons on a North Dakota grain operation. Employees will drive and operate farm machinery to plant, cultivate, harvest, and store a variety of grain crops including barley, wheat, canola, soybeans, sunflowers, and corn. Duties include preparing equipment, working and fertilizing the land, and seeding crops in the spring. In summer, workers will monitor crop conditions, spray crops, haul grain, and assist with equipment maintenance in preparation for harvest. During the fall, workers will harvest all crops when weather and crop conditions are right, perform fieldwork post-harvest to prepare the soil for the following spring, and transport grain to storage or elevators. Additional responsibilities include attaching implements to tractors, operating combines, sprayers, swathers, and other machinery, and performing minor repairs and general farm maintenance as needed. Throughout the contract period, weather conditions and seasonal demands may affect the timing and nature of duties. Workers may also be required to perform other related agricultural tasks. Skill Level Required: Level I (Entry-Level). No formal experience required. Employer will provide training.
Special Requirements
No experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level I Entry Level Pursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level I Entry Level, indicating that the job requires limited experience and routine supervision consistent with entry-level duties. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
