Job description

While working on the employer’s own farm employees will complete General Farm & Equipment Operations: Seasonal workers are needed from March through October to assist with all aspects of crop production for corn, wheat, beans, soybeans, potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, and other crops. Duties include preparing fields for planting; attaching, operating, and maintaining farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and seeders; engaging in planting, cultivating, weeding, spraying, and general crop care; loading and unloading crops or materials manually or using conveyors, hand trucks, forklifts, or transfer augers; guiding products on conveyors; driving farm trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools; performing routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs; cleaning and maintaining work areas, buildings, fences, and landscaping; inspecting, grading, sorting, storing, and handling post-harvest treatment of crops; maintaining inventory; labeling and recording product and
order information; moving materials, removing debris, and ensuring materials meet specifications; and assisting as tractor operators, equipment operators, general laborers, graders, and sorters.

While working at clients listed on the itinerary employees will complete Custom Combining & Harvest Operations: Workers are also needed for custom combining and harvesting operations for crops including corn, wheat, beans, soybeans, potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, and corn silage. Duties include operating combines, forage harvesters, potato and bean harvesters, corn pickers, and related harvest equipment; operating trucks or tractors with trailers to transport harvested crops from fields to storage or processing areas; conducting routine maintenance, lubrication, and minor repairs on harvest machinery; inspecting cargo for proper loading and securing; cleaning harvest equipment daily and between fields; moving, loading, and unloading harvested materials; coordinating with managers to ensure timely harvest operations; and assisting with post-harvest cleanup and handling. Work involves exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, long hours during peak harvest, repetitive movements, extended sitting while operating machinery, and lifting up to 50 lbs. A regular driver’s license is required, and prior equipment experience is preferred. Employer may offer discretionary pay increases or incentive bonuses based on performance, longevity, and experience; such bonuses are not guaranteed.

Two way radios will be available in the equipment AND that such devices will be provided without charge or deposit charge to at least one worker per crew during the entire period of employment.

Special Requirements

Job requires extensive sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive movements, frequent stooping and exposure to seasonal outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. We require a regular drivers license and 3 months experience.
