Job description
The worker will assist with all aspects of crop farming operations on a family-owned farm producing wheat, corn, and soybeans in Niagara, North Dakota. Duties include preparing fields by operating tractors and other mechanized farm equipment to till soil, apply fertilizer, and assist with seeding and planting. During the growing season, workers will monitor crop health, perform weed and pest control using appropriate tools and equipment, and assist with irrigation tasks as needed. At harvest, workers will operate combines, grain carts, and trucks to collect and transport crops. Workers must conduct basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure efficient operation and minimize downtime. Additional responsibilities include assisting with grain storage, cleaning grain bins, loading trucks, and maintaining cleanliness in work areas. The role may require extended hours during planting and harvest periods. Workers must be able to follow directions in English, safely operate machinery, and demonstrate mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting minor equipment issues. A valid driver’s license is preferred to support transportation and logistics across farm properties. Workers must be physically able to lift and move equipment and materials, work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, and collaborate with the farm team to meet seasonal production goals. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision. The employer reserves the right to withhold the applicable housing deduction as permitted under program regulations, when approved and disclosed in the job order.
